-Second Annual Holiday Wine Tasting Event

Paul & Suzi Ruper, owners of the Keyboard Liquor Store, hosted the second annual Holiday Wine Tasting Festival on December 3, 2009 at Valentini’s Supper Club.  Six wine distributors provided over 40 different wines for sampling by the 85 people who attended the event.  The wines were once again complimented by an elegant buffet of hors d’oeuvres created by the staff at Valentini’s.  Proceeds from the event, $1,850, were donated to the Chisholm Community Foundation.  CCF Advisory Board members assisted the Rupers in planning the evening.

Thanks for your support, Paul & Suzi.  We look forward to working with you next year!

The Chisholm Community Foundation held its 14th annual golf outing on July 27, 2009 at the Mesaba Country Club in Hibbing.  One hundred thirty golfers participated in this year’s event.  Over $13,000 was raised, which will be used to defray the annual operating expenses of the CCF office.  A buffet dinner was held at Valentini’s after the outing.

Shawn Anderson was our MC again this year.  Many great prizes donated by local and out-of-town businesses and individuals were distributed.  Two highlighted prizes that were auctioned off included four tickets to a Minnesota Timberwolves game donated by Gary Cerkvenick and four tickets to a Minnesota Wild game given by Philip Falcone.

Congratulations go out to the Hibbing Taconite team consisting of Joe Marturano, Jeff Cowling, Gary Baumgardner, Mike Swanger and Adam Osborne.  They won the tourney again this year!

Thank you to all of our hole sponsors, businesses and individuals who donated prizes, and the golfers and volunteers who participated in the event.  We appreciate your support!

Brett Friedlander and Bob Reising, co authors of “Chasing Moonlight” spoke of their experiences writing the book and thanked Chisholm and the CCF for all the support that was given to them on their journey.

It was a pleasant evening and, as always, the atmosphere, meal and service at Valentini’s was excellent.

The Chisholm Community Foundation hosted their third annual Cinco de Mayo Festival on Saturday, May 2, 2009.  The evening began at Tom& Jerry’s where 95 people enjoyed the fiesta atmosphere with piñatas, margaritas, chips and salsa and the music of the Mariachi band, Forastero.  Tom Bobich (Chibe) won prizes for the best salsa and the best costume.

The festivities moved to Valentini’s for a superb authentic Mexican meal.  Those who attended were able to participate in silent and live auctions.  Shawn Anderson, CCF board member, was both the MC and auctioneer and made the event lively and fun.

Thank you to all who attended and made this event a success!  Next year’s Cinco de Mayo Festival is scheduled for Saturday, May 1, 2010.  Hope to see you there!
